Riding Club's Wow Girls Win in style!
Worlington's Junior Show Jumpers qualify for National Championships.
|
Four Newmarket girls, representing Worlington Riding Club, won the BRC Area 14 Junior Open Show Jumping competition at Weston Longville on 13th June, qualifying for the British National Championships.
The aptly named, Worlington Wow-girls, with an average age of just 13 years (and the smallest ponies) competed against stronger, more experienced teams, but by holding their nerve, they finished victorious.

Team members,(
L to R) Jessica McIlwraith, (Newmarket) Scarlet Simmons (Farley Green),
Katie Monks (Brinkley) and Laura Toller (Newmarket)
are all dedicated riders. Scarlet, at just eleven years of age and the youngest team member actually won the individual event. She gave all the credit to her palomino pony, Mr. Kipling: He really is an exceedingly good pony she chuckled. He tried so hard and literally felt as if he flew over the jumps. He definitely knew it was an important day. |
|
| Team Manager Hazel Simmons, commented,:-
For me, the best aspect of the day was the brilliant team spirit and sportsmanship that the girls displayed. I am so proud of them all.
The event was superbly organised on behalf of the BRC, by Carousel Riding Club.

Worlington's Junior Novice team at the same event performed very well too and although having a bit of bad luck they gained an admirable fifth place. Team members were Katie Monks, Jade
Wecke, Amy Stone and Sarah Toller. All the girls were a credit to the club, especially Jade
Wecke who won the prize for the best turned out combination of horse and rider at the competition.
|
The National Championship takes place at Lincoln in September, when the top 25 teams from all over the United Kingdom gather to compete.
We wish the very best of good luck at the Championships to the girls in the team and their enthusiastic and supportive team manager, Hazel Simmons.
